Generally, a study permit is required to attend a college or university in Canada as an international student. Some graduates may be eligible for an open work permit after meeting the requirements to complete their study program to gain valuable Canadian work experience. It is possible to extend the study permit without limits for as long as there’s a valid reason.

WORK AFTER GRADUATION

Most of students wish to know about work and career settlement within or after study. Canada is flexible to provide work permit after graduation to the international students. It is called Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Work permit is issued for eligible graduates studied in Canada.

The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows students who graduated from eligible Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs) to obtain an open work permit to enter Canadian labor market.

The student needs to ensure whether they may be eligible after graduation for an open work permit after study at those institutions before applying for a study permit in Canada. Selecting the learning institution is much important to work permit availability after graduation.

The duration of the work permit varies depending on the length of study period. Apart from choosing the right institution, there are other eligibility requirements which must be kept in mind:

  • The student must maintain as a full-time student status in Canada
  • The program of study must be at least 8 months in duration
  • Receive transcript and an official letter from the college or universities confirming they met the requirements to complete the program

If wish to apply for a PGWP in Canada or require more information, we are glad to assist you.
